Beginnings:

"My dad was one of the best track & field athletes and coaches in former Czechoslovakia. I was growing up on the stadium, in the gym and traveling to his off-season high elevation training camps in the mountains, or pre-season camps on the beach. I’ve been surrounded by top athletes all my life. Despite his efforts to make me sprint fast and jump far, I chose to become a tennis player. I was also talented in drawing and always dreamed of becoming an architect. Instead of buildings, I ended up modelling big forehands and winning strategies." JS

Philosophy:

"Developing top nationally and internationally ranked junior and professional tennis players in 9 different countries has been on one side an amazing, but on the other an exhausting experience. However, from my side it’s been a great investment. Learning to survive and succeed in different environments helped me to become more resistant and adaptable. Thanks to overcoming this journey, I can now think outside the box and see things from a different perspective.

After everything I went through, I can claim with full modesty that I am one of those very few coaches who are fully aware of the fact that we are not only responsible for the results achieved by our players, but that our actions also have direct impact on their physical and mental health. Therefore, I devoted large part of my career to preventing unnecessary injuries and premature career endings caused by wrong decisions, inappropriate coaching, or parenting.

Looking back on my career, I reached the point where I asked myself, if I am truly happy with what I do. I literally lived my life for someone’s tennis. I’ve decided to utilize my skills, knowledge and experience more effectively by creating meaningful projects and collaborations. Doing something that will not only make me happy, but something that could positively impact many people. Something, that will perhaps impact the evolution of performance tennis." JS
